I live in Richmond, Virginia, and have been exploring, writing and photographing the James River and the Richmond area for several years. It’s a hobby now, though I have done it professionally as well with the Richmond Times-Dispatch, Discover Richmond, NBC12 and now with Richmond.com. I am also working on my masters degree in urban planning at VCU.

I use the Falls of the James Atlas by Bill Trout very often in my writing. I also cling to my memories of several long talks with James River Park System manager Ralph White and members of his dedicated staff. Here’s to hoping for many more chances to connect with these guys on the turf we love most.
