About

DSC06411_200I live in Richmond, Virginia, and have been exploring, writing and photographing the James River and the Richmond area for several years. It’s a hobby now, though I have done it professionally as well with the Richmond Times-Dispatch, Discover Richmond, NBC12 and now with Richmond.com. I am also working on my masters degree in urban planning at VCU.

I use the Falls of the James Atlas by Bill Trout very often in my writing. I also cling to my memories of several long talks with James River Park System manager Ralph White and members of his dedicated staff. Here’s to hoping for many more chances to connect with these guys on the turf we love most.

  4. Hi —

IPMBA is holding a police/EMS bike conference in Richmond next April, and I’m interested in using some of your photos of the James River Trail System. Would you be willing to grant us permission to use them, properly credited, of course?

    Thank you.

  5. Phil,

Thank you for your comment on my blog. I now have in-laws in the Richmond area, so I’m sure I will be back many more times. I’m only sorry it took me this long to discover your city, which I fell in love with.

This is a great blog, by the way, and I will look forward to perusing it in the future as I prepare for further explorations of Richmond.

Me too! Told your Mom about 12 About Town. Think she’s wishing she could see all this stuff too.

Very Richmond is a great idea! I’m reading your posts almost daily. I’ll eventually get your mother to do the same.
Keep up the great work (or is it play?)!
